Artistic collaborations

These articles illustrate some of the ways we collaborate with artists, designers, and other creators to experiment with ways of engaging publics around our research themes. While science communication commonly involves sharing 'finished' science with an undifferentiated public, we are interested in a more open-ended approach, in which we invite multiple intersecting publics to participate in 'science-in-progress’. These pieces tend to have a more personal and/or narrative style, in keeping with the often visual or multisensory nature of their contents, and a more reflective tone, as we consider the potential of cross-disciplinary research-creation and the arts’ power to reach people on a deeper, more visceral level.
